The Way Ahead Group is launching a network of people who are passionate about Mindful Leadership. The first meeting to be held at the end of this month is to explore ways in which mindful leadership can help speed change in the big issues the planet confronts.

What do you need to be a mindful leader?

1 you need to be able to be fully present in any moment: equally those of joy, celebration, success as those of sadness loss or failure.
2 you need to be fully who you can be, living a life that is truly aligned with authentic values that you have healthily chosen.
3 you need to be energetically intelligent: not just the shorthand of IQ, but emotionally, physically, spiritually and creatively.
4 you need to be passionate and compassionate, filled with drive and love
5 you need to be reflective, able to stop, be silent, be with yourself to reflect and learn from thought, word and deed
6 you need to know yourself: where you have come from, what has formed and informed who you are, how you think about yourself, others and the world, how you feel and behave and why
7 you need to be informed and engaged with the world
8 you need to be alert and alive to connection
9 you need to be open and flexible
10 you need to be still and active
11 you need to be keen to find a meaning and narrative, for yourself, for what just happened, for others, for the world
12 you need to be sustainable, using your own and the world’s resources wisely and with compassionate, tender loving care
13 you need to be ethical and empathic
14 you need to have a psychological understanding and acceptance of yourself and others
16 you need to desire a better, fairer world where all can be fully themselves

this month's article - You don't live in the world alone your brothers are here too

Much of our work helps leaders to bring to awareness their early life and the influence
this has on their thinking, feeling, behaviour and leadership.
This piece takes the form of an interview / discussion with the Jeffery brothers. Chris
Jeffery is Head of an extremely successful Independent school working with
materially well-off children leading a vision to create a curriculum which encourages
them to take their own place as responsible mindful leaders in the world. His younger
brother Tim Jeffery is ceo of Spurgeons, the Children?s charity, which works with
young people at the other end of the material spectrum.
This piece explores in depth the life of two brothers, their family values, their own
relationship and how this has informed who they are and what they do.
It shows the importance of the idea of service, the ongoing tension for all of us
between our inner and outer lives and stresses the importance of the journey
towards consonance between the two.
